Shock your Noodles, share your recipes, ...please?

Post by EvilDustBooger » Tue Apr 26, 2005 7:20 am

Ok, here`s a nice little fresh twist for preparing yummy noodles on the playa: I`m doing this with Ramen noodles, but you could use others I suppose.
-Shock the Noodles-

Boil your noodles just a little, under-cook them with just enough water to get the job done.

Strain the liquid off. Put noodles in a ziplock, seal it up and toss it into
your ice-chest to get cold. . .wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Take the flavor packet,.. give it a fleeting, sympathetic glance, and then
toss it into an approved rubbish container... that`s better dammit....

When the noodles are nice and cold, add a can of tuna,
or shrimp,.. chicken, etc..
onions, peppers, pickles, tomatoes, spices....whatever fresh
goodies you want to dice, slice, chop or sqeeze into the bag.

It makes a nice cool meal, full of tasty fresh ingredients that really go well out on the playa... and it`s easy to mix up, store and serve out of a zip-bag.
mmmmmm. I think I`m having this for lunch!!

Any other unusual recipe ideas?

Bring it on, EviL

Yeah, the dessicant pouches from army surplus canvas pouches taste better'n the Vile Packet.....

I used to live on ramen noodles with ground beef and frozen peas. Or boil up the noodles and in a pan cook up some beef or chicken with onion and soy and then crack in an egg or two. Serve on noodles with some scallions. Variation on a favorite dish served over sticky rice- The chicken-and-egg variety is "Oyaku Donburi", or "Parent and Child served in a bowl"- Beef is "Tanin Donburi", or "Not Related".

Maruchan actually makes a cup o'noodles that tastes pretty good for being bone cheap- Chili and Lime with Shrimp!

I used to do almost the same thing using ground turkey instead of beef
occasionally, I`d throw in a can of veg-all to round out the meal...I like the egg idea.
