Cooler Advice
I'm planning to invest in a new cooler for my drinks and snacks.
My last cooler cracked after some light usage so this time I'm planning to get something a little more robust.
I've seen some made from more rubber-like materials which I think may solve my problem such as https://profesionalcamping.com/bikase-c ... ek-review/.
Would anyone recommend a cooler to me? It either needs to be super sturdy or made of a material that won't crack.
Any advice would be appreciated - thanks guys!

Re: Cooler Advice
If you just have drinks and snacks, an inexpensive cooler would work for you.
A better cooler would be suggested for frozen foods and other things that need to be refrigerated or frozen for the week.

Re: Cooler Advice
I have a YETI and an RTC. Both are awesome. The RTC is less expensive than the YETI but very comparable to it in terms of ice lasting...
Oh my god, it's HUGE!
Re: Cooler Advice
I have a cheap $35 Coleman. For only beer and ice it works fine. I wrap it in a cozy and support it a few inches off the ground. Ice for 3 days or more.

The Coleman Extreme series always does well in the trials (via YouTube).
Re: Cooler Advice
I’m curious how one cracks a cooler.
I carried 60 pounds of stakes, rebar, spikes of all kinds in a 20 year old retired Coleman cooler for 10 years of BM.
Tossed the cooler off the truck, banged, used as a chair ...
I mean totally abused the thing.
Never a crack/dent on it.

Re: Cooler Advice
I've been using a pair of Coleman Xtreme 5 day coolers for several years now and they seem to work well. The Yeti's perform better but they are really expensive.

Is a single 120 QT good enough for a single person?
I did also think about using the 120 for dry ice and frozen and maybe a 45QT for other

Re: Cooler Advice
It is probably plenty big enough but consider designing the cooler around the food instead of the bringing enough food to fit the cooler. That is make your menu first, cut it back to what you will actually use and then figure out how much room you need for your beer and bacon.

Re: Cooler Advice
Having separate cooler for dry-ice as a deep freezer you open once a day is good.
Then use a second cooler for drinks and whatnot, one that gets opened often, and replenish it with block ice from Arctica.

Baud, We don't bring any food that need refrigeration. Cans of soup, ramen, chili with no beans, fritos, instant oatmeal, dried fruits and nuts, sardines and crackers, etc.... If we run out of ice we get more. (For the beer and wine.)

I was going to have gallon jugs of water in the freezer one that I would transfer to the smaller one. This would be my cold water once melted.Token wrote:Having separate cooler for dry-ice as a deep freezer you open once a day is good.

Re: Cooler Advice
Thanks guys. Coleman's sounds like a great option. I'll check them out.
Re: how I cracked my old one. I actually don't really know. I found the crack after I came back from a road trip with my mates. We mainly just left the cooler on the back of the pickup truck and the road was quite rough. I think that it might be the reason.
