Where to get Rmax panels/boards?
The best wife of all and I are planning to loose our BM virginity in 2016 and it fell to me to plan for shelter. After initially wanting to build a 16ft dome, I finally came to the conclusion that for now a hexayurt might be a better choice. So, off I go starting with the planning, reading up on everything I can find and finally today I went out to Home Depot to see if they have the material needed.
Come to find out, probably as many others before me, that's home depot is not the best supplier when it comes to specialty items. Of course they would be happy to order a truckload for me, but ideally I only need 11or12panels.
That now raises the question: does anyone here with a lot more experience than me has an idea where I can buy the 1" or preferably even the 2" panels in Houston or online?

My local Home Despot always has them. Strange.
We like to have fun with hexayurts.
You will learn a lot from the process of building, transporting, erecting, living in, taking down, transporting, repairing, and finally storing a hexayurt.
You may ultimately move in a different direction after a year or two, but a hexayurt is a great way to engage your burn experience.
I recommend magnetic door clasps and a small AC unit that you can power with a Honda EU2000i generator.
Pro tip: place a tarp down first, and secure it to the walls inside your yurt so rainfall does not enter via the floor.
Second pro tip: Store and transport your hexayurt in a tarp-wrapped package with all the Rmax panels sandwiched between two thin plywood panels. Dings on hexayurts can spiral out of control into funkiness and are a major source of on-Playa MOOP.
See you on the Playa!

If you have any dings or gouges just put some foil tape over them
Oh my god, it's HUGE!

I second the foil tape.
torrey.smith can you elaborate a bit more on the magnetic door clasps, please?

Use Neodymium magnets to secure your door. They're strong and provide an easy ingress/egress without having a latch that may prove troublesome.
Basically, few things are more annoying than forgetting to bring a nice latch system to your sweet yurt.
Embed the magnets in the door and frame and you will be stoked!
Interesting. Do you just use two in the middle? Or put them at the top and bottom too? (And do you use two? Or a magnet on one side and a piece of metal on the other?)

My local HDespot typically has them in stock. Try another big box construction store, call them first if you want. Or can you order them at HD.com and do Ship-to-store?

Hmmm, apparently Lowes has the 1" boards, but HD does not? Oh well, I must just have been to the wrong side of the road. Now that of course begs the question: What is the common wisdom: Are 1" panels enough or should I continue to look for 2" panels?

1" is enough, also takes up less space when stacked and stored

Home Depot often, but not always, has the 1" in stock. If you have a Home Depot Pro in your area, they have always had them in stock for me.
Re: Where to get Rmax panels/boards?
If you contact Rmax directly they will give you a list of suggestions of who carries the boards.
They gave me several non-bigbox names in Reno and I was able to purchase over 120 panels last year at excellent prices using cash.
