Burning Man Camp Resource Guide

If you're feeling overwhelmed at the prospect of building and bringing a camp to Burning Man, or even just feeling some anxiety about joining somebody else's camp and participating, you may want to check out the Camp Resource Guide on Burning Man's web site. Some of it is relevant to theme camps, but most of it is useful for camps of any shape and size. It is loaded up with links and info about all kinds of things, from consent and leadership to shade and logistics and planning a camp layout. The intro adds that "there is no one way to camp at Burning Man" - which is absolutely true and happens to be one of my favorite things about Burning Man.

This message board is a great resource, but so is the Camp Resource Guide. It's worth skimming through to learn about a lot of the different aspects of planning a camp, or just to see different methods people use to tackle a challenge. Big thanks to the Camp Support Team who organizes the guide, as well as provide an off-playa AND on-playa help desk and manage a mentoring program to help people make better camps (which in turn means have an even better time at Burning Man).
