Once you pick up your ticket at will call
you have arrived and will somehow find your way
although it may not be easy

Sheek,
I don't know the "official" answer but I don't think it's a good idea to sleep at the will call lot. IIRC, they had staffers in the lot directing traffic and keeping an eye on things, getting vehicles in and out and parked in a semi-orderly way (Emphasis on Semi). You might wrinkle the flow if you tried to stay theres, or get yelled at/kicked out if someone notices your vehicle there for too long.
But also--once you get your ticket at Will Call--YOU'RE SO CLOSE! Why not just finish the job and get through the gate, get to camp and crash there if you are too tired. Traffic and lines will be worse during the day, as will the heat and wind. So if you make it all the way to WC at nighttime, have a caffeinated beverage handy, take quick break if you need to, and get into the City.
And regardless, whatever you plan for your arrival, you are really only planning what WON'T happen because something will change unexpectedly. So be flexible.

The will call parking lot is NOT intended to be an all-night rest stop.

If you are the first to arrive with your camp pre-event (with valid early entry) and you arrive after the placement team for your zone has gone off duty for the evening, you'll be directed to someplace where you can park and sleep until morning. If you are arriving after the gates have opened, then make your way into the city. You can pull off/park/sleep in an empty spot on one of the outer streets.

I doubt it very much, with all the bustle in and out of Will Call for the first couple of days. But somebody much more knowledgable than me can confirm that for you.
