Re: Water infrastructure for camp showers
You could pick up some cheap wash cloths and plastic salad type bowls to help conserve shower water. A bowl with just a few inches of water can wet and suds up a person. No need to have the spigot running.
Re: Water infrastructure for camp showers
10 minutes should be occupancy time with actual 5 minutes of water flow.
1 minute to wet.
2 minutes body rinse.
2 minutes hair rinse.
Rest is lather time, scrubbing, getting in and out, blah.
The 5 minute of actual flow time is important to know. That is the time the pump is pumping.
Now let’s talk duty-cycle : the big problem!
Past data sayz 120 showers per day.
1200 minutes of occupancy.
600 minutes of pump pumping.
10 hours of pump time per day.
Each shower stall has a 50% on 50% off duty cycle in the 10-minute period.
4 stalls.
Best bet is each stall having their own pump just to minimize pump burnout.

Update on this adventure...
WooHoo! I want thank everyone for the help on this topic(s). I have finally spoken with the leader, and I think we are going to be moving the camp in a positive direction. With plans to invest into the water infrastructure this year, that provides opportunity in the future for moving the camp from a village service to a gift of art/entertainment/dust off/ theme camp. WooHoo!
There is new excitement and inspiration and involvement from the leaders and I am happy to be working my ass off for the next few weeks! I am still open to any ideas and suggestions for making a heated (yes this is request) shower.
Thank you all for the support and for giving this Birgin a place in the community! Please come visit me on the Playa cause you all get a shower!!!!!

I hope this worked out
For anyone designing water rigs for the playa, bear in mind two things.
One, gravity feed your water, it never burns out and never needs electricity.
Two, evaporation is worth investing in. Get evaporation right and you eliminate an expensive ongoing cost.
