Man Base Shade Structure

Post by johnken » Tue Feb 25, 2020 8:52 pm

Does anybody know about the fabric design/technology used in the man base shade structure? I'm talking about all the little booths surrounding the man base this year. I want to make something like that and those looked really really simple! They were made of some kind of spandex material that had a rope on the edge, the edge was folded over and glued, and then some clamps were made out of 2x4 wood. It seemed so stupidly simple but it worked! What kind of fabric was it really made from? Does anybody know who to ask to contact the builders for that shade?

There were three separate, intriguing design spaces around the Man in 2019.

I, personally, connected with the 'Cafe/Bistro'.

Your connection was clearly with a different space.

Do you have any photos?

When in doubt, Duncan has all the hi-res photos.

All I could find were these little booths, but they looked like plywood.
