Mini Golf on Playa 2024!

Any design and materials ideas for a mini-golf course? Thinking each hole constructed separately with a different BM-related theme. Considering use of flexible landscape edging (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Master-Mark ... pEjVM0E21E) held in place with Playa nails to create boarders for each hole. Wondering about what to use for the surface: just use the Playa, with all its irregularities, making a straight shot very challenging? Any type of carpet or turf that could work or too moopy? A plywood surface even though more material and labor to build? Light at night by stringing rope lights and flags on 4' stakes around perimeter.

No carpet, just rake the Playa lightly and regularly and smooth it with a roller or broom. Golf courses in low water areas have used sand greens for years.

This could be fun. Leave small, cheap rakes, etc. out for golfers to move the playa around. Set up the hazards more permanently.

FYI - There is an existing mini-golf somewhere around 4-5 and D or E

They bring wood for borders and fake grass for the surface and have a legit course. I suspect you could easily do the same with 2x4 cut to the shape and some wood screws, anchor the turf at the edge with the wood and lag to the ground

I looked at some old early mini golf course photos, at boardwalks etc. They look very flat, with low rails, and boundaries and things to carom off of and avoid, right angles to navigate. If the playa is not hardpack, the cheapest covering, blue tarps, or planters drops? Could maybe work on the surface.

Thanks for all the suggestions! We have delegated each of our nine holes to a different construction crew. Some are simply going to stake a carpet and 1x1 edging to the playa, others are going to screw 1x1 edging to 3/8" plywood with carpet tacked to the plywood. Easy to find carpet remnants for cheap/free. Each hole will have a theme with art, obstacles & barriers to putt around. Come by Synapse Conduit at 8:15 & C in 2024 to check it out! Open 24/7
