Shelter Designs

Post by kodemage » Fri Dec 16, 2005 6:28 pm

Hello group,

I'm wondering if any of you can reccomend some shelter designs that will stand up to the winds and abuse that is to be expected. I was a Boy Scout for 8 years but I never camped in Burningman like conditions. Can any one point out some books to consider or websites. I have some ideas right now but I don't know how well my idea will work.

I plan on sinking some PVC Pipe into the Playa and steaking in some guide lines, but I worry that the tarps will just rupture in the 40+mph winds. I might draw up a pic and re-edit this post to give a better visual.
(Also, how do you cut / bend re-bar to make stakes my father said a hack saw wouldn't work for the cutting and that we'd need a torch.)

I saw the topic on camp design and shower design, but I'm wondering more about shelter / comunal living space.

See You In The Desert,
-Benjamin
