Tent-Hutts desert style

Post by RobOIDAHO » Mon Aug 14, 2006 5:00 pm

Hi folks the structure home I made in 05 was a success .I used a old dicarded satilite dish-- on top with #4 rebar as support legs, srink wrap, alm foil and fabric ,a dark colored planter at the top to draw the cool air in at the bottom .I did sleep well and on several times after a all night shift and with a blanket till 10-11am it worked well. This year I will use 2x4s and a foil padding to wrap the structure inside and out -dbl wall as well as fabric out side covering as not to blind my camp mates and srink wrap to hold the fabric in place. I was at Fire Camp 3:0Clock and will be there this year 06-drop or stumble gently by an see thanks ....RobO

Hi, Rob,

My apologies, but you've misspelled the name of Robert G. Ingersoll, the greatest speaker ever in America.
I would rather have been a French peasant and worn wooden shoes. I would rather have lived in a hut with a vine growing over the door, and the grapes growing purple in the kisses of the Autumn sun. I would rather have been that poor peasant, with my loving wife by my side, knitting as the day died out of the sky -- with my children upon my knees and their arms about me -- I would rather have been that man and gone down to the tongueless silence of the dreamless dust, than to have been that imperial impersonation of force and murder, known as Napoleon the Great."
The complete works of Ingersoll are at

and you are absolutely correct that everyone should read his works.

Any chance you can post a picture of this creation?

I'll try to post some photos...... I had a computer crash last year that had all my 05 BM photos on it. I will be sitting it up early next week before I leave for BM and will try to post some photos before I go. I am working on a simple design for a swamp cooler fed by a drip system 5 gal. bucket and catch bucket . The idea is that the heated dark colored planter at the top of the structure will draw the air from outside into an air filter and into the wet swamp pad and into the living space.....Trying to keep it simple and workable I'll post the results.
