shade for one?
Hey- so this will be my first time at the event. I'm pretty much going solo and I am looking for ideas on how to make a small shade structure for myself. I feel as though it's not neccessary to have one since i will be camping by myself for the most part, but it still might be nice to have a cool place to lay down for awhile or to keep my cooler. Any ideas on the best method?

Shade is a non-negotiable, it's really as necessary as water. Your tent will be like a oven unless you park it under shade. It has to stay up if it gets windy, and maybe REALLY windy. I use a 10x10 carport from Costco, very cheap and packs to a small size i can fit in a small car. I use 3 foot rebar pounded straight in and duct taped to the legs.

Actually, that's more or less what Louise and I did our first trip - we rented a commercial van, slammed the door shut on a piece of fabric, then staked the other end down on the playa for our shade.theCryptofishist wrote:You Driving? Have a roof rack? That can be the start of a shelter. You got one wall and anchor points.

It didn't work real well, but it worked.
