Simple:

Give people your address and hang a dry erase board on the outside of your shade structure so people can leave you notes.

Don't use paper!! It will just turn into MOOP.

But add a container, ideally lidded, for treats either offered or received. I think that just about EVERY time I go to a thrift store I see actual mailboxes, which can be fun to decorate- But if you set one up make sure to put it where it isn't a hazard. And if you put your address on it, it'll be a handy reference point for passers-by after the street signs are all stolen.
