A natural washing up detergent?
A natural washing up detergent?
Hi all!
I'm a virgin burner soon to be popping my BM cherry in a few months!
I don't want to be bringing any washing up liquid or any sort of detergents with me as I want to stay as natural as possible when it comes to cleaning.
I know white vinegar is excellent for cutting through grease and lemon has natural antibacterial properties, so I may make up a spray of each before arriving, but is there anything else I could use that anyone on here have found to be useful?
Thanks :D

Hey Charlie H, Check out Baby Wipes... manOman do they feel great for a full wash or a fresh up... I/we always keep some in a cooler. Look for the bigger sizes. You can buy those in Reno when you get here......

I always carry a spray bottle.
Set it to mist.
Wash hands, etc.
Pump up misters are useful if it's hot.
You can wash some with them too.
The pump type chemical sprayers (new) can be used for a very efficient shower.
I know someone who has used the steel one on a burner to heat the water.
A good hand lotion like neutrogena unscented can really help out there.

I'm confused about what you want to clean. Yourself? Don't. Why bother. Your dishes? Please do. Food poisoning on the playa is no fun at all.
If you google
natural detergent
you'll get about a half a million hits. Even if you don't buy any of the products, you'll get ideas from their pages about what they contain so you can make and test your own. Please test it at home, if you're cleaning dishes so you can get medical help if necessary.

It's only a week, just use some real soap. Vinegar is for etching sheet metal, not washing dishes.

Dr. Bronner's
This guy is crazy and makes great soap
http://www.drbronner.com/
try the liquid classic, diluted in a spray bottle for quick wipe downs of whatever.
The mint is refreshing in the heat.

Check REI, backpacking stores or Natural food stores, also online store.
I've been reading up on this as well, and what Ive read leans me to using Dr Bronners soaps for most if not all of my cleaning, from my teeth to my utensils, especially the peppermint flavor. Comments? Suggestions? Anecdotal evidence?
