Costco type Carport roof vents

Post by Craftsmn » Wed Aug 20, 2008 7:08 am

I am bringing a Carport with the roof vents on top, out to the Playa this year and was wondering about how those roof vents will stand up to the high wind.

What have been others experience in the past?

I have seen some where they do not insert the support poles allowing the canvas above to flap around, but that seems noisy. With the poles inserted will it stand up to the winds. Or should I just duct tape the vents closed before putting up the structure?

Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Part of the benefit of the vents is that they should help with high winds. Similar to "wind proof" umbrellas, they release the air pressure under the carport in high winds. Generally the risked is that the carport will be picked up from underneath by the wind, not blown over.
