seeking folding plastic "carpet"

Postby linguafranka » Mon Aug 01, 2011 7:18 pm

looking for some folding plastic carpet mats.
they look like oriental carpets, but actually woven plastic filament. lightweight & durable, easy to rinse off later.
can't seem to find them, anybody know where to get some?
i am in california.

thanks!

I know where to get them in Japan.... Sorry, not helpful. You rarely see them in the US.

These aren't exactly what you mean, but quite nice:

MOOP ALERT!

If those folding carpets are like the roll-up type you can buy at World Market, made from recycled polyprop and patterned like Persian rugs and other such things, then you need to know that they break down in sunlight after the very first exposure and leave little scraps of plastic everywhere that are nearly impossible to pick up. We don't need to start a dry-land plastic gyre at BRC, so leave 'em at home or at least test them in direct sunlight and see for yourself!
The heavier ones (they make doormats too) that are woven from actual nylon cord are more durable and don't shed. I personally like the felty indoor-outdoor carpeting that resembles the surface at minigolf courses. NOT Astroturf, which sheds at the cut lines.
