Walmart Shade 10 x 10 Structure

Post by shimgotit » Mon Aug 19, 2013 8:06 pm

Hi I was wondering about something like this... http://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-1 ... y/22402169 if I rebar in all the ends into the ground well, does anyone have experience with this? Will it turn into a kite and fly away or rip and leave me with a mess? or will it hold up ok?/ TIA

You do realise that that link is to just one wall, basically a 10 foot tarp. The entire canopy is a lot more money.

It appears to be an EZ Up knockoff. Those things tend to self destruct on the playa. Hell, mine self destructed at a craft fair in much milder winds than the playa gets.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

I camp and do all my regionals in a 10x10. When I first started trying to research what to camp in at BM, NO NO NO NO was what I found about bringing these.

The only yeses involved having it strapped to a vehicle and reinforcing the legs with rebar (putting it up the hollow legs, all the way).

I'm bringing along that same canopy. I found conflicting information here on eplaya regarding how well they do. The majority opinion seems to be NOT to do it, however it does seem that some people have found ways to make them work.

Are you near a Harbor Freight? They always have coupons and this http://www.harborfreight.com/10-ft-x-10 ... 68775.html will probably fare better than the canopy and cost not too much more.
