Snow Peak Solid Stakes 'Stead of Rebar

Post by BadKittenOnARampage » Wed Aug 21, 2013 12:14 pm

Howdy, ePlayateers!

This is my fourth burn, but my first solo and I'm thinking of getting these super-cool Snow Peak solid stakes (can be driven through ashphalt!): http://www.backcountrygear.com/snow-pea ... stake.html instead of rebar for my tent and shade structure and wanted to consult the shared wisdom of the ePlaya . . . thoughts? Opinions? Bad Puns?

Thanks in advance!!!

:D

Someone used them before ... sounded successful:

I was camping with someone in the Sierra Nevada who used them on a tarp with freestanding legs and the thing was bomber ... we didn't have much wind that week, though.

I was convinced enough to buy 8 of the size #40 which come in just under 16".

There was another thread asking for advice on them, and someone suggested bringing the known solution - rebar.

I'll bring a bit of that, too. :)

Overengineer ... all of the things!

And bring them!

Depends on the size...... 12inch pounded in FLUSH to the playa is good, but bang for the buck, I'd go with the 16in.
They come out way easier than rebar.
