Decorating a Kodiak canvas tent

Hello burner family,
So I just purchased a Kodiak canvas tent in preparation for my trip to the playa next year, and I was wondering if I could paint a mural on it without compromising the integrity of the tent. Has anyone attempted this? And if so, what type of paint should I use? Should I Scotchguard it afterwards? :)
