26x8 Kodiak Canvas Tent

Post by tbar92 » Tue Apr 11, 2017 11:51 pm

See plenty of chat on the 10x10 or 10x14, but has anyone used the 26x8 type? I worried the bigger the tent the less durable it is during a wind storm.

How many people can *really* fit in with supplies, outfits, food, etc, etc

Thanks

.That's a Kodiak "cabin" tent. Most burners use the "flex-bow" type as theses are much more able to handle the winds.........FYI

I took a 26x8 out there last year.

The wind was mild enough last year that I did not have any issues. I can't speak to every year though. Had the porch attachment as well so we'd have an enclosed kitchen, it held up just fine.

3. The cots we used take up about half of each room. I wouldn't want to fit any more than this in there.

My only complaint is the two side room windows on the back side do not fully seal. They seal top and sides, but the bottom only closes with a small bit of velcro which does not go all the way across. Tried sealing with gorilla tape, but that doesn't work in the dust.

Covered with an aluminet tarp, which kept it comfortable to sleep in until around 10am. I'll be bringing it back this year to give it another beating. 1/4" x 18" rebar on the corners, included stakes for the rest of it. Will probably lag bolt this year but I don't think it's really required.
