Where would the best place be for additional tie-downs to secure a Kodiak flex-bow tent against high winds ?
Would a monkee hut (with tarp) over the tent protect it from "bending in the winds" or would it just beat against it all night ?
KODIAK TENT in the WIND
Re: KODIAK TENT in the WIND
Oh wow, Kodiak just went cheapo on everyone with the flex poles.
Did you already take to the playa and it flexed too much or is this a pre-playa question?
Kodiak and Springbar tents on playa have historically been the rigid frame cabin tents. Those are proven and reliable.
If this “flex-bow” thing makes it like any old cheapo tent, Kodiak may lose its playa-strong rating.

Mine held up really good this year.
OP, where are you camping that leads you to think you need more tie downs or why?

Oh my god, it's HUGE!

I don't own one....yet. Most of my camping is in AZ. It gets VERY windy Fall and Spring.

Can you describe the frame and flex poles a bit for the nerds? I searched and no technical specs are available.lucky420 wrote:Mine held up really good this year.

Same old design. They don't really flex a whole hell of a lot.Token wrote: Can you describe the frame and flex poles a bit for the nerds? I searched and no technical specs are available.
Kodiak website:
"Frame: 1-inch, galvanized, steel tubing.
Flex-Bow Rods: 3/8-inch, solid, spring steel."
The four "flex-bow rods" slide into sleeves at the top, connect to the ridge pole, and are held in place by tension on the fabric.
I love this tent.
This link starts the video at the good part.
