Kodiak tent awning poles as part of shade structure

Post by Liz Zay » Wed Aug 22, 2018 8:57 am

Hiii all! Does anyone have experience with the Kodiak tent awning on playa?

I am planning to attach a large piece of aluminet to a truck and secure it to the ground (with my tent in-between.) I was hoping to use the awning poles to help create a little more space between the aluminet and my tent. I'm concerned that the poles will be too flimsy to stand up to the job. Anyone know how they stand up to the playa? Also any tips for securing them to the ground?

Thank you!!!!

If all you are doing is propping up some sagging Aluminet, they will be fine.

There likely isn’t a need to attach the pole to the ground but if you insist, best is to pound something into the ground half way then either tie or tape the pole to it. Can be a nail spike, concrete form stake, rebar, lag bolt, old ice-pick ...
