Monkey Hut on the beach?

Post by jfeaz » Mon Sep 17, 2018 1:17 pm

Hey All!

I've got my trusty Monkey Hut (unmodified from the original design) that I've used on a variety of turfs.

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to erect their monkey hut on a sandy California beach? I'm going camping with some friends in Point Mugu SP and would love to use my Hut for shade. I have 2' rebar as the stakes. Will this stay in place, or will they snap out of the ground?

They won't pull up if you secure it down with straps. To secure in sand you use....more sand. Dig a hole. Tie your strap to a bag of wet sand. Nylon, cotton, canvas it doesn't matter. You can use old pillow cases. Bury the bag. tighten straps. Don't set up too close to the water line.
