Connecting an LED Whip to a Trike

Hello and thanks in advance for any help here.

I am wanting to use one of these ATV whips/flags on my e-trike this year: http://bit.ly/19wpj0I

I did a bit of digging and found a similar thread, but unfortunately there wasn't enough info on what I was looking to do. Can anyone tell me the best way to go about hooking something like this up directly to a battery source using an inverter? If so, what type of battery would be best? Also, is it possible to use NiCd AA batteries somehow?

This is the info on the listing:
Supply current - Less then 0.5amp
Supply voltage - 8vdc - 24vdc

6 AAs= 9 volts.

Thx FIGJAM. I'm wondering if I can't just rig it to the existing 36V SLA battery somehow (I have an E-TrikeKit). It currently powers a small LED battery indicator display as well.

It's possible to step down the voltage from 36 to 9 but more trouble than it's worth at this late date. If I were you I'd just bring enough batteries.
