I created the linked spreadsheet to help calculate my power requirements, while on the Playa. Simply input the power consumption for each appliance and the respective times that you plan to use them (blue cells are inputs). The resulting calculations will help you size your battery bank and solar charger.

Please comment and help me make this calculator better.

That thing only makes it more complicated.
Who actually knows, accurately, all that input info and doesn't know how to add it up?

Have you heard about the Alternative Energy Zone village aez-zone.org? They help people understand this. So they are going to be a good resource on how people learn to size systems, the questions they have and what equipment holds up on playa. You can PM them through their listserv.
And welcome to ePlaya, people have solar, battery and generator questions often!

Thanks for posting this! It's a pretty good resource.
I've brought solar to my camp the last two years. A bunch of people really loved the solar compared to a fuckin' generator. Several told me they only wanted to camp with solar from now on.
Surely your spreadsheet has helped lots people streamline their design process.
