Honda has recalled the newer 2200i generators for a fuel leak at the shut off valve. I hear that the screws holding the valve can come loose and cause the valve to leak.

Yup.
Repair parts haven't been made available to dealers.
So..."don't use it and we don't know when you'll be able to, but thanks for your money"

Had good luck with the Yamaha EF2000i as an alternative to the Honda. A little cheaper too. (around 800 vs 1000)

Joe: Have you been inside one of these? They say the screws can work loose causing gas to leak, can they be tightened? maybe replaced with bolts?

Re: Honda 2200i recall
I was hoping it might be something easy in case I had to bust into it myself. After emailing Honda and filing a BBB complaint, they have contacted me and are attempting to expedite the repair. Stay tuned....
@LowePro I replaced a Yamaha2400 with the Honda. The Yammy was a great machine but just too heavy to move around. I opted for Honda over Yamaha due to the extra 200 watts, which *barely* allows me to run the AC on my camper.

They say the screws fastening the fuel valve can rattle loose.
Take ‘em out, apply Loctite and put ‘em back in.
If that’s too complicated, step away from the electromechanical device.
