Could wearing little clothing be an issue?

Post by mismultiverse » Wed Aug 09, 2023 5:50 pm

I’m limited on space (taking burner bus and carrying in) and not a fan of clothing anyways. I’m curious if running around in bikinis and essentially underwear would be uncomfortable eventually? Like playa dust in the nethers ya know? Obviously I’ll bring some warmer stuff for the evenings. 🙏💚

https://survival.burningman.org/surviva ... nd-safety/. The survival guide is required reading.

It is your vacation. Do what you like and see. If you change daily, bathe yourself, and follow your adult sense in the outdoors where there is dirt (are you actually asking how not to be dirty???) … you’ll be ok. Sun exposure will be a problem. Maybe have a light sulu, sari, sarong, real big scarf for a light sun cover, or wrap. A hat is important. The desert sun and heat can be deadly if it is not respected. It can get cold so be prepared for that too.

Sunburn. Get help applying sunscreen. Hat for your part.

The playa dust is a mix of soft baby powder and sandy sharp grit. When the grit gets between clothes and skin it scratches, eventually seriously.

Therefore most people clean daily, even with baby wipes and change daily the clothes where fabric rubs skin, then layer over as much as possible to keep the dust out of that area. So it depends on whether the grit gets between the skin and elastic parts, waistband, leg openings, bra part inner base layers. The other tactic is to wash your feet in the evening, generously apply moisturizer, and put your feet in clean socks to sleep.

There are several outerwear costume camps you can find on the what-where-when, visit them and change it up! Accessories make the outfit, but don't bring any you can not lose.

Wear as little as you want but don’t forget the sunscreen and the anti-chafe goop. Every year I end up helping a campmate who has suddenly started chafing in places they’ve never chafed before.

Note that it can get cold at night. Running around in a bikini is fine during the day (other than sunburn issues) but you will be freezing at night!

Indeed they are. But I find them silly. But not as silly as https://www.pinterest.com/pin/cat-toupe ... 990096977/

Yeah, too little clothes was definitely an issue when I spotted the ball sweat stains on the camp chair.

Yeah, sometimes cold at night, out between the fires and people. And the playa reflects sun up, so the bottom of your nose can get burnt. Gloves if you build or tear down. Be careful not to chap the thighs. And a small umbrella can be wonderful.

Thanks for the info. Luckily I have no balls to sweat 😅. But also I’ll bring a sarong if I was to park my bare ass on a surface 👌

Look, once you're out there, who knows what you'll have. But, yeah, a courtesy thing is covering butt. Woop woop. It's Burn time
