THANKS! Saved it to my Lost Art file. Is there a format I should work in? Been using 24Bm for layering, then save the final in jpeg.

I use Photoshop/Illustrator for stuff like this, so I keep all the files as native .psd or .ai files until I'm ready to convert them into the end version..

Is there a line that can be crossed? Sure, but so what. Many lines are crossed in BRC depending on your point of view.tattoogoddess wrote:I got to thinking today about if there is a line that can be crossed on the playa as far as attire.
I know a person who is attending this year and they purchased a replica nazi military greens jacket to wear out on the playa with the 2 bolts, eagle crunching the swatztiga (spelling?)
I find the jacket very offensive and told them I don't think it is such a hot idea. I'm all for radical self expression, but should there be a line, "supporting/promoting" a military who killed millions based on a race?
Am I over reacting? They are not a neo nazi, skinhead ect btw just fascinated I guess. Or at least that's what I gather.
Should there be a line? The line is yours if you choose, not mine. It's your problem.
Are you over reacting? No, you are judging.
Unwanted physical interaction is crossing a line. Playing dress-up .... not so much.
Some feel shirt cocking is very offensive too. I heard that resulted in cannons.
Re: Is there a line you Can cross at bm?
My feeling is that a uniform you describe is a hot button for many reasons and no one could say they aren't aware of that. Are they choosing to push those buttons and why? Is it fun to knowingly upset people. I don't find it fun personally, but someone else might and are they willing to talk about that and discuss their costume? Is it just a big "Fuck you" they are expressing? I don't understand that. Are they promoting what the uniform stands for? They can wear what they want. I'd just hope they are ready to own up to the reactions they know they will be getting, and be willing to talk about it.
here's a line you can cross.

Re: Is there a line you Can cross at bm?
I'm not familiar with the "24Bm" format, and I can't find anything about it on the web, so I can't comment on that, but I can tell you that .jpg is one of the worst possible formats to save a piece in - it's "lossy", meaning that every single time you hit "save", it loses more data. That's why images that go around the web from computer to computer start to look like crappy photocopies (and probably why your background on the Daffy image is so pixilated).TomServo wrote:THANKS! Saved it to my Lost Art file. Is there a format I should work in? Been using 24Bm for layering, then save the final in jpeg.
You need to save it in a lossless format, the most common of which is .png - it's going to be a larger file, but you're not going to lose data from it when you hit save. I also highly recommend saving "versions" - open "Daffy Background.png" and add "that's all folks", save as "Daffy Background2.png" or something. That way if you screw up & hit save when you didn't mean to, you have a version only one step earlier to revert to. If I'm working on multiple images for a single final image, I general name each file "Image1Master1" (original), "Image1Master2" (1st alerations), "Image2Master1" etc. I've had up to 8 "Masters" for each layer in the final version, but I've never had a screw up cost me more than 30 minutes work to fix.
I save the photo's I post to the web as .jpg because I know any browser on the planet can read them, on my computer I have my master copies saved as either "camera raw" or .png

Most of the "low-quality" in that image is from low-quality source material, not so much encoding artifacts -- though it is good practice to save your masters in a lossless format (including retaining layer information) and only using a lossy format if you need to provide a draft copy to someone else (or for a photo, which usually doesn't matter).

So I wonder how much attention a "whites only" sign or other racial type stuff, like a KKK camp, would bring? That almost seems like it would strike a more bitter cord than Nazi regalia.

I screamed "What in the fucking fuck is that???"
She told me it was for meringue only. Said any amount of grease or fat residue would result in non-fluffy egg whites.

Re: Is there a line you Can cross at bm?
I have friends who threw a "White Party" on the playa in 2008 (a year I couldn't attend). Some KKK outfits, some Nazi outfits, various forms of redneck - the subtheme was "Come as Your Oppressor", and the majority of the camp was Latino/ minority. They thought it was hysterical (one of them is a designer & was even making couture klan-outfits), and it might have been if they hadn't been flakes all week & had actually put up the "Come as Your Oppressor" signs, and the other bits that skewed the theme. As it was, all I've heard are the words "unmitigated disaster" - though apparently almost everyone who was offended was white...BBadger wrote:So I wonder how much attention a "whites only" sign or other racial type stuff, like a KKK camp, would bring? I think it could be done "well" (as in skewed properly), like Apokaliptika did with the Soviets, I just think it would take a lot of planning and effort to pull off.

24 color bitmap.is what I saved drafts as.
As far as the Black Algemeine Uniform...I think Daffy would be lost in all the BLACK. I like the M-36 feldgrau, it could just as easily go with a pickelhaube as a stahlhelm.
Tried the Roman helmet..didn't work.

Adobe has provided Photoshop CS2 and other programs for free download. See if you can use that for your graphics rather than relying on BMP files. One thing nice is that it preserves layers so that you can move stuff around as needed, and apply blending effects and all that.
