Oh lord, I DID shop out of those catalogs; I recognize the covers. I still have a few of their things, Larry wears my old linen shirt. It is in remarkably good condition for being over 25 years old. I still wear my mudcloth scarves, and I have the throw on the table next to me.

I actually have some old military stuff! The nicest one is a Dutch military dress jacket (red, with epaulets). Those & a great brown bunny hat (which blends helpfully into my haircolor) got me the 2nd place prizes in an Alice in Wonderland costume competition, as the March Hare. :lol:

Normally I prefer the green and khaki items; they're more versatile.

Thanks! I got that outfit from east essence. It was a little pricey but it had all sorts of cool designs on it and fake gems sewn into it.

I thought I would update: Sorry things have been so slow for me! We got all of our tickets, so we will be seeing you on the playa! *obligatory cheer* Anyhow.

I still only have the shemagh, money has been pretty tight. I just started college and we just purchased tickets. The next plan is this: I need to buy some lingerie for a budoir photoshoot my husband bought for my birthday. So, what are your opinions/ideas/thoughts on doing post apocolyptic with lingerie? Pictures most welcome!

I have some sports bras that look post apocalyptic. My husband laughs at them but I wouldn't wear em as a costume.

More horn, fur and feather tribal than N. African tribal, readers of this thread are welcome to look up the late Tiffa Novoa who had a huge impact on W Coast fashion design, costume design for film and the BM aesthetic.

wow, thank you for that. I looked her up and found this beautiful gallery. I love the headdresses, though I'm trying to stay away from anything super NA-inspired because of appropriation concerns. which mostly means no spirit hoods & feathers.

There are many tribes besides the Bedouin in North Africa. A great source for portraits are the photo books by Carol Beckwith and collaborators. African Ceremonies, The Nomads of Niger and others. Libya is opening more so image searching for the Ghadames festival may provide inspiration.

More Asian influenced is the work of performer and costume designer Bad Unkl Sista in SF. I think she has been to BM once or twice. Excellent person to hire for elaborate costume design.

Bad Unkl Sista is amazing. We met them at Symbiosis this year and they did a little private performance for me and my daughter. The costumes they had on were just beautiful...

Another costume inspiration, more Asian-influenced, is the work of Sha Sha Higby. Very beautiful and infinitely detailed, but entirely unwashable afterwards!

hi, i make picture frames, have plenty of wood, etc. they would be simple. BUT, how do i get them there to you. i'm flying in from alaska, and live in n.fl. suggestions? i could probably come up with 40-50 or so, billy-bob love your project, i usually make jewelry, not woodwork stuff, but can handle this.
