And perfection?
Where?
At a few california malls?

I have a friend that made some vogue covers, among other things.
Done by seventeen.
All downhill after that, and some people really look critically.

That cute because you're young thing is already dying off at 22.
Not that perfection is really needed.

My friend would have been attractive without the body that wowed Paris.
How about you?
Yea i have modeled for abocrombie and fitch, so what?.. i'm not trying to brag so don't be so hostile toward me for asking the question.. who really cares right..?, my whole experince isn't gonna be based off of this, its just one small part that I am not looking forward to.

Maybe. I just think if he is this concerned about nudity maybe burning man isn't for him. He shouldn't waste his time and money.

Naked, old, "unattractive" people will be there. Things will hang low. He cannot avoid seeing them.
I dunno, I'm kinda thinking he'll do alright after a day or two.

Reminds me of puppies, and I'm feeling kindly toward the pair of them.

Casanova, I’m glad you came back to your thread. I mean this with all sincerity. And I don’t think gyre was being hostile at all, just making a point. But I have to say, you did start the thread about not wanting to see people you, yourself, find unattractive, so you gave the impression that you are the one that cares.

Like Shambala, I hope to cross your path, oddly enough. I'd like to see what you think later in the week about your fears.

Well why didn't you say this in the first place? That isn't your 4 inch diameter right nipple on the poster that hits me in the face when I enter the store, is it? You now have exactly 2 years from your first photo shoot until you are passed over for someone with the fresh face that they are looking for. You may be under the false impression that your present looks are now your permanant station in life. Watch for that first gray hair and the slightly receeding hair line. Can you spell AARP?

If you've modeled or done any theatre, you should have been around enough people changing clothes to not be affected by it.

A friend, who has done some modeling, once said to me,
"Yes, I wanted to take my clothes off, but I didn't know if it would bother you."

Seriously.

But she was completely indifferent about it.

Yes, but they were all attractive looking people, thats just my point, I don't have anything agaisnt nudity, its just the people that should not be nude is my problem, Yea i know I will get old some day and not look good anymore, but thats what clothes are for. (no offence). i think its just rude for the younger generations to be forced to be around them without having the chance to experience the other things at burning man.

Okay, that's the statement/attitude most of us are having a problem with. Because no one gets to decide who SHOULD or should not be naked. Certainly not you! And at Burning Man, we are ALL beautiful.

You don't know yet. I would very much appreciate if you return to this thread after the event and let us know if you have changed your mind. I very much suspect you might.

Really, a few fat old people having extreme moments of joy will not ruin your burn. We might redefine your perception and definition of beauty. Please do give us that chance.

I can kind of understand Casanova's apprehension. If you never are exposed to people who express themselves in a way that is not normal for you or not congruent with the the typical images you see around, on TV or magazines (perfect bodies, albeit airbrushed), it would be quite jarring. I mean NO ONE is ever naked in our culture with a less than perfect physique. Plus when people tell you that's ALL that's out there, it can sound daunting. I am personally looking forward to being jarred out of my normal state.

I will try to be as civil as I can be but I make no gaurentees.

Your attitude is offensive because you are so closed minded to the fact that being older doesn't mean you have to have a reduced sense of pride in oneself, that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, and that at 22 you have closed your mind off with "should." Who should and shouldn't wear clothes? Educate me. Is it AntiM with her scars who fought cancer and lived to tell the tale? Or is ahe too "old" for you? Is it one of my crew who lost his best friend to suicide a few years back and every years goes to the Temple in respect of him? Or is his 36 inch waist offensive? Or is it me, who is bringing home a murdered friend, a mother who died a month ago, was beaten, raped, and homeless by the age of 15 but put myself through college? Or is the fact, that due to illness, I am not toned too much for you?

The world of appearance is so shallow and anyone living in it is not worth my time. I try to be a kind and understanding person, but I don't have the strength this year to deal with yet another you. I said my piece. I'm sorry AntiM.

How broad of you.

Intentionally or not, Burning Man for the last fifteen years has cultivated a *look* and *feel* of soft-core porn. They've paid people from the porn industry to produce art projects. A majority of the people images they catalog in the Image Gallery are what you might categorize as pretty people, albeit not the "naked old and unattractive", for which we maybe should blame the photographers flooding the art dept. with their cheesecake crap, blablabla.

So with all due respect, while I have only a vague idea what the basis of the OP's complaint is, what's your beef as an eplaya rent-a-cop, wrt to policing this thread so closely?

see, I'd not see that as a guilt trip, at all.
it is no more or less, than what you have written, in a personal opinion sense..........
Probably what is turning this tread sort of "nasty" is what, to me anyway, is a narcissistic set of attitudes, emanating from you, and you're friend.
Perhaps, Napoleonic, even.
I'm sure, you are nice people, at least in the eyes of those you like, or those who adore you.........
and, perhaps, had you not seemed as though, you stood on high, on a pedestal, as such, and passed judgment on those, whom, in your (myopic) opinion regarding "beauty" you wish to be exposed to.

Perhaps, just attending the event, hoping to see only beautiful people, and wishing same, would have served you better? Realizing, there will be people, and "things" you care not to see or witness, but, kept to yourself, would have been an option?

or, is it a megalomaniacal delusion, that, anyone cares about the concerns and opinions expressed in your initial post?

Why not just come out, be happy, do happy things for yourself, and, perhaps, others...........and ignore, what offends you?

just a thought.

good luck.
