Playa Boots
Hi Folks! I know this subject comes up every year, but I could use some suggestions on your already tried and true Playa boots. I would like something sexy AND comfortable...a lot to ask? I hope not. I suffer and wear hot-ass boots every time I go, but I just want a pair that I can wear and not think about my feet while out and about dancing. Any comfy knee highs with platforms you know about? Thank you!!

I like to browse Zappos.com and narrow by size, heel height, sometimes color . . . (though this can narrow it too far). I might also compare prices with Amazon for the same make & model, but it's generally better to order from Zappos even then, because they usually have free--yet fairly fast--shipping, and more importantly, free returns.

This is another perfect example of why the search function should work much better, so people can find threads with the exact same subject...I'm sure there's even one called "Playa Boots," but after reading through nearly 20 pages of "results," all I found were:

I don't wear platforms in BRC. IRL, Demonia platforms are the ones I find most easy to walk in and comfortable.

These have been my daily drivers for years. They are well made, lasting from a year and half to two with daily use. Nothing fancy going on inside, so your feet have enough room. On the playa they breathe better then Doc's, from my experience. Although can get a bit hot at times. A lot of the airflow comes down to how tight you laced them, and if you modified the top strap to buckle tight.
As for other T.U.K. unisex boots, I've owned the A6072, and T2161 mid/high calf boots. Both of them have the same durability as the A6055, although tend to get bends/cracks in the leather at the ankle.
Sizing may be one to two lower then your normal sneaker size.

I've been able to find these boots for $10 to $30 off on eBay, and at independent leather/fetish shops or emporiums.

I've got a pair of Corcorans...still spit shined from the last time I wore them about 7 years ago. Why do I continue to shelter them in my attic in the original box when I should be putting them to good purpose as playa shit-stompers?TomServo wrote:14 eye Ranger boots...note the still present playa dust.

Don't bore your friends with all your troubles. Tell your enemies instead, for they will delight in hearing about them.

Honestly, though many don't think they are attractive, I have worn tall UGG boots and been ridiculously comfortable in them. Because they are wool they keep your feet at body temp, that means warm when it's cold at night and cool when it's hot during the day. Also don't have to worry about socks then either. I like them in black. They get a little dirty but some UGG boot cleaner diluted with water in a spray bottle takes care of that when I am home after the burn.

Re: Playa Boots
The boot sellers aren't sponsoring the event, a theme camp, nor this thread. While outright commerce is not allowed here on the eplaya, a discussion about boots is an okay place to post links and pictures about such boots. Be assured the mods watch for the spammers, and a thread which begins with a commercial link as the starting point and only vaguely event related would be pulled.cpart wrote:What ever happened to decommodification?

Re: Playa Boots
I was gifted the most epic pair of old black leather lace up NaNas that go up my calf. those of you who dont know what those are they are like Doc Martens. Super comfortable, too. Really protective, and they look really cool. Sexy tank girl like....worked like a charm.
BUT that was when I was lonin' it the last few years at the Burn and spent most of my time in them.
This year was different. I found myself at a new camp and our neighbors were Rhythm Wave who had the only Barefoot Bamboo dance floor on the playa AND great DJs and sound system. I was loving the suburbs this past year and loving their dance floor. I was also doing lots of human loving and cuddling, found myself wanting to take my boots off at all hours of the day and night. Thus my NaNas rendered useless. I wore my sandals a lot and got MAJOR playa foot.....
Not expecting to get as lucky next year heh heh, but I do want to be prepared for lovely cozyings and random bamboo dance floors so I am going to search for a pair of slip on or zip up boots. They HAVE to have decent support (UGGS too sloshy) and be completely flat, no heel. Hoping to find ones that are suede with sneaker like soles, they make funky shit like that these days! Something not so conforming as combat style boots but not slippers, either. Somewhere in between!
