Very good advice. As a virgin I guess I don't know that feeling you get out there so I can only imagine and hope I will feel better about my self if that makes sense. I am a huge seamstress. Not to the point where I can make a wedding dress ( im sure I could if I tried) but yeah. Alot of the clothes I am thinking about taking are things I have sewn up in the past few months. Getting inspired from past BM videos and pictures as well as etsy clothes that look comfy. Wriping apart shirts and making them into skirts, armwarmers ect ect. Once I see the list of events I will have a better Idea of things I want to make.
I really want to wear a skirt and "bra" while out there I just don't know if I can break down my self enough to do it. I really want to push my self out there and let all it out the window.

That's the spirit. The clothing theme is, "In your wildest dream". You might try a sheer cape at first. .....After you venture out and meet the population, you'll lose the cape and most of your inhibitions. Dress for YOU. Your smile will pull it off.

I'll bet you'll find that you can bring yourself to do skirt + bra. Here's a fun way to do it: if necessary, start with a sarong as a dress, cross-crossed over a bra and whatever (tied behind your neck). When you're comfortable that way, uncover the bra and drop the sarong down to the hip and tie at the side. Suddenly you're a bare-tummied island maiden. w00t.tattoogoddess wrote:Very good advice. You might not even need that. You will see people of all shapes wearing whatever the hell they want, and it's very encouraging.

Trust me, there are a lot of "plus sized" people of both genders running around uncovered. The photos & videos are a really really bad way to judge what happens out there.tattoogoddess wrote:See thats the thing out of the photos and videos i have seen, I have not seen a plus sized gal like my self "uncovered" I SOOOO badly want to run around like the skinny girls but have yet to see it. Bring things just in-case you decide you want to. You may surprise yourself.

+3 I've said it before i didn't see a single unnatractive person while i was on the playa. Not because they were all beautiful models but because they did what they wanted too and dressed how they wanted too.
have i mentioned i wore my hello kitty towel as a sarong for a few days because i didnt bring a sarong/skirt/kilt?

Re: How many outfits or costumes do you bring?
My dear GD, I expect to see you this year in a sarong from Dye With Dignity.
(((TTG))) I want to tell you that I saw, my very first day in BRC, I saw 2 older (60+) plus sized ladies, stark naked. And they were beautiful.
After that there was no "shell" left for me to come out of.
And a very dear person came to me, early in the week, to ask if I had a safety pin.
Being the compulsively over-prepared person that I am, I OF COURSE had a safety pin I could lay my hands on immediately
but as I offered it to her in quiet triumph
she told me she wanted it to pin her dress closed over her cleavage!
I told her she could certainly have the daggone pin, but, assured her that it was not at all necessary. The next time I saw her she had tiger stripes painted on her boobs.
Beautiful.

Yes, it is the pretty pretties who get their pictures taken and posted most often. The rest of us are busy being ourselves. You'll find what suits you.Eric wrote:Trust me, there are a lot of "plus sized" people of both genders running around uncovered. Re: How many outfits or costumes do you bring?
This is such a fun topic. I realize that as a first timer it can be stressful but it is also such an awesome opportunity to embrace things you wouldn't normally. I am pretty conservative and also reasonably modest but certainly like to explore a bit on the playa. In my first year, I just started planning clothes by styles that I was drawn to. Steam punk, bohemian. I focused on comfortable fabric and interchangeable styles and outfits. I found that I wore things more than once as far as skirts/shorts and tops.
If you chose to wear them, bring LOTS of underwear and socks. These I surely changed often. As far as other outfits, this is my third year so each year I retire some items and bring back some favorites. I usually bring 3-4 skirts, 2 shorts, 3 crochet bra tops, 4 other tops (hot weather.) A couple of pairs of fun pants, 2 boots and a furry coat. Remember goggles, a couple of hats or head wear and scarves for dust. A comfy pair of sleeping clothes. Lighter colors will feel cooler. Just nothing can fall off, no sequins, feathers, embellishments etc.

Anyone who thinks they bring a lot of clothes hasn’t met Mrs. Goddammit (Capt. Goddammette).

The best one so far - a 30’ parachute she somehow fashioned into a massive skirt - no cuts, just big-ass safety pins ...
Then we had to figure out how she can ride her bike ...

Dictator Bob wrote: ↑Fri Aug 05, 2011 2:38 pmHey there peoples, I am going for the first time this year and am struggling with how many items and articles of clothing I should bring. I'm putting together outfits and am wondering how many I should do. I have a bunch of questions that are driving me crazy. One of my girlfriends is bringing two outfits per day. I am not that creative nor stylish ... nor do I want to be!! I just want to be comfortable, occasionally well dressed, and quite often awesome.
- How many "costumes" do you bring?
What about just day to day running around touristing stuff?
Do you wear some things over again to conserve space and energy, or do you absolutely have to have a different look and personal theme every thirty five to forty minutes of almost entirely unique and never before seen items?
And most importantly, what do I do with this really ugly orange camelbak I got here ... ?
As has been said by a lot people..more than is needed. I bring plenty of clothes..daytime stuff, nighttime stuff and things I find that I think are really cool. I do have a couple things I wear more than once and as for the camelbak, nothing much you can do. You could decorate it to look less obnoxious or fix up some sort of pouch or whatnot to cover it. Attach flowers to it or bright shiny things.
Any help and guidance in this area is much appreciated.

Just one outfit...but I rotate it throughout the week.

Re: How many outfits or costumes do you bring?
Yes, she has outfits for each of the 11 days we will be on the Playa. All of which she can mix and match to change the look, should she get the urge,.....and she will get the urge.
I have zero imagination, when it comes to clothing. I'll be wearing the same thing, everyday. Not the same clothes. Different color shorts. Long sleeve microfiber white shirt with a white cotton t-shirt over it, and a hat. I bring a light flannel jacket and a bigger jacket. Worked for me in 2016. Yes, I wore the same thing in 2016.

Re: How many outfits or costumes do you bring?
I'm in the middle of packing and so far was able to get all of my hats and hats that need hat boxes to fit into one big bin, success! The rest of my outfits are interchangeable viking or steampunk gear. Leather cuffs, leather pauldron, steampunk goggles, bracelets. Whenever I settle on a theme I just get a ton of stuff in colors that work together (this year was black, red, and gold), and everything in a theme so that I can mix and match once I get out there. I basically have 2 or 3 complete outfits, but I stretch that out with accessories and change pieces so I have a new outfit to wear every day, and a new outfit for every night.
If you see a bearded viking/steampunk guy on the playa in gold leggings and biker books say hi, it might even be me!
