but hey if there's anywhere to have a come to jesus about anything, burning man is the best place
I won't say I'm offended. I try to take all Jesus talk with a grain of salt, and a dash of humor. But, I don't think you are seeing the whole picture...don't worry, a lot of people aren't. But, it's not my job to change people's vision. As I may have said, or at least tried to explain, I am not trying to offend anyone...though I expect I will. It's MY art and I don't expect you to get it. As far as being spit upon, I can spit back with the best of em. It's nothing new. I used to get my tail lights kicked in, for the "God Masturbates" sticker I had on my old VW. ONWARD Christian soldiers! Hell. I used to get, literally, spit upon for having green hair and a different style. EVENTUALLY someone stopped to ask why. I didn't come here seeking approval..if you notice, I didn't start this thread. Though well meaning, I wasn't about to let a busy body, who likes to talk, ruin my reputation and allow the blind scorn of a "chat room" seal the deal. My intent is absolutely innocent, though outwardly evil...that is part of it's appeal to me.

Go Tom Go!

I may have to put up with "political correctness" in defaultia, but I personally don't tolerate that attitude on the playa.

It truly is the last bastion of free speech, and the further it crosses the line the better.

I figure if you wanna truly claim to promote RADICAL self-expression, you've gotta tolerate shit like this. But I'm probably not gonna be lining up to say hello...

So if I wanted my art piece to be a portable dust storm, and brought a leaf blower, would that cross some line?

If that's what makes you giggle. Sure! But, the second it physically impacts someone else, then, it's a problem. Can you think of a better analogy?

there was a discussion/thread on the pic with the guy above with the vacuum blowing dust in people cars.
That, is a fine example of "your art impacting me personally".........not ok. No different than hosing someone down. It can damage stuff, and, if not ready, a big lung full of dust might hurt someone.........no, I'd take it away and let you choose the orifice it's inserted in.

Think, about others a little, when it comes to physically impacting them .

If I thought it was a good idea I wouldn't have posted it in this thread. :)

I thought it might be fun to don dust gear, ride way out on the playa as far as you can, stir up a huge dust cloud that would blow away from the city, and see if anyone came out to investigate. An alcohol inspired idea you may have guessed.

that would be interesting...........and had you put the description in the first post, it may not have gotten so snarky.
it's just that from time to time, someone does come along with a leaf blower, or lawn mower, or whatever, thinking it's funny to blow tons of dust into camps.

Here's a harsh reality that thin skinned hippie types need to know.

Burning Man has historically been an outlet of radical self expression, that often use unsavory themes in their punch line. I urge you to read up on the Cacophony Society. I won't publicly blame them for my decisions, but they do hold my admiration. Hell! I may already be a member! And so may you!

For males "shirtcocking" is a definite NO NO! Take the shirt off and apply sunscreen liberally! Or... Cover up yer penis!
