If it just open at the back, the bucket will be enough to cool that space.

Set the bucket at the bottom of the opening pointing into the cabin and it will curculate the cool air in, and the hot air will be forced out the top of the opening.

Or use it for a personel cooler while you're driving!

It's very portable. 8)

If I get time I may just try that!
I'm up to my elbows with the Land Yacht, the trailer, the camper, etc. but it seems like I'm kinda' lackin' as a fully equipped burner without a FIGJAM cooler.

Nonsense, you've been at this a lot longer than I have, but you have'nt been there when I have, so I'm looking forward as much to seeing the yatch as I was to see La Chats "Contraption"!

Once you have your parts, it will go together in about an hour or two. 8)

Sweet! I'm about to build one of these for my first-time burn experience this year, to keep my hexayurt cool. Could I combine the solar panel you're using with a deep-cycle battery? I.e. have the solar panel replenish the battery whenever there's enough sunlight, to stretch the battery out for the whole week? (I have almost zero electrical knowledge, btw.)

That's basically what we do. Suitcase solar panel, and there are both deep cycle and gel batteries strewn around camp. We can charge the batteries or run the cooler straight off the solar.

Would I be able to recharge the battery with a solar panel?
From what I have read in the multiple threads and over searches, I should be able to run the fan and pump on the battery for a week.
CanI recharge my battery by disconnecting it from the fan and pump and connecting it to a 30 watt or 50 watt solar panel?
I am weary of depending only on the panel should the weather be cloudy or dusty.

Thanks,
Sassi

Just cross-posting this from FIGJAM's cooling thread:

I'm going 100% solar. This was my last shopping spree on Amazon. Unfortunately, the parts are going to meet me in the desert, so I can only test in real conditions!

40w solar panel (for direct power):
12VDC pump:
12VDC case fan:
12VDC vent fan for my dome (repurposed)
Timer switch (to avoid burnout when dry):

Gonna hook up all the parts in parallel (except timer) and cross my fingers! Got the harbour freight pump just as a backup

Does anyone know if a panel like this would work in this application.

Probably. We use a crappy Harbor Freight 15W panel and alligator clips. Worked just fine last year all week.

Great thanks for chiming in.
Nothing like bringing back a 5-year-old thread.

This thread bump was really useful. with the price of deep cycle batteries seemingly having increased, solar alternatives are very competitive price wise now.
