GlamManits: She'll Glam You... Then She'll Eat Your Head

[Mister Jellyfish Mister]

Originally "Mantis", a 2006 honorarium art installation by Killbuck and yours truly, Random and I are re-crafting her for BM12 to roam the playa and hunt for sex and sustenance. She's still a 14 foot tall praying mantis worn and operated by a single walking pilot. Now that she's heard Ziggy Stardust she's all about The Glam as her purple soul leaks through plasma sphere eyes, fluorescent fringe and a 1/4 mile of green electro-luminescent wire. Melt in her embrace but be careful what music you play... Bowie makes her hungry.

Very cool project MJM!

I bet that it will be a lot of fun on playa for sure. It is also an additional inspiration, in that, I suspect it can be packed up to a relatively small size for transport. For me, that becomes a critical factor as I consider what art I could build and bring out next year. (I'm not in the 'giant hammer' league, at least not yet!)

Last battle she removed and walked off with his head for a prize but must have left his massive balls intact for him to want to go back in the ring with her. Game on.

Thanks, all. You have it right, WVB, in that she can be dissassembled and packed into an SUV, which we did a while back when String Cheese Incident hired her for a show in Oregon. Nothing like hippy heads for a midnight snack!

Doing facial reconstruction on GlamMantis now. She took a digger when I had my back turned at Voodoo Festival and somebody pushed her over... wham! It's funny to be cleaning New Orleans mud out of the cracks to set her new cheek bones in.

Random's idea of fluorescent fringe on her forearms is razzamatastic-- inderlit with strips of black light LED's recessed to hide the hot-spots. This stuff is going to tickle and tantalize candy ravers into woozy trance... a brief taste of heaven before she sends them there for good.
