Hello everyone.
I'm a second year Burner. I went last year on Thursday, arrived late and ended up camping by myself in the outer perimeter. I really loved riding the playa and checking out the wonderful and oh so creative art work. I also loved the energy and acceptance from all the other Burners.
My question: I'd like to be more social this year and, instead of being on the perimeter, mingle amongst the other Burners. There are a multitude of theme camps, some of which are more suitable, to a 50 something professional, than others.
Can anyone provide some names of theme camps suitable for an active, outdoorsy, wine and beer loving guy like me? I love to socialize with people from all over.
I know that I've just scratched the surface of what one can experience at Burning Man. Can you help me dig a bit deeper?
Thanks for any and all input.

Your final 2 words in that post contradict the rest of everything.
Be free. Fuck what's "suitable" for a 50 year old whatever.
Lose your boundaries. It's Burning Man. No better place..

Just look at the published list of registered theme camps, or browse ePlaya's Theme Camps board. Lots of camps have posted, find something that interests you and reach out.

After following the other great advice perhaps then have a look at eplaya and if people seem nice then just ask if you can join their camp. That's what I did. Worked out great. Good luck.

Get lost. It's great fun.
Some of the larger art cars will take on passengers. It's fun to climb on board and let the driver of this weird vehicle decide where you land up. Freaking roll the dice, man.
