Hi all,
We're looking for a last-minute place to rent a 5,000lb tow-capacity truck in the Bay Area. Most companies large and small seem to not allow towing (Enterprise, Budget, Hengehold which is Burner Friendly..)
We've had a deposit on a third wheel for the good part of the year for BM, but my car's transmission just blew and now we're scrambling to find a car that can tow this bad boy.
BurningMan friendly a big plus. Any recommendations for smaller, harder-to-locate renters? Dare I brave uHaul?
Tow rentals? Last minute car failure, advice needed!

You've got a CAR that can tow a 5,000lb THIRD wheel trailer?!? Dude, I've gotta see this!
P.S. Don't mention you're going to be towing a THIRD wheel trailer, they won't rent to you.BTW mentioning third wheel trailer makes you look as though you have no buisness towing anything, get a compact car your fellow motorists will thank you

Maybe this had something to do with the transmission going out?
Anyway, good luck finding something.

If you mean 5th wheel, a Jeep can't tow that. Or any SUV for that matter.
I'm a fixer. I fix things.

Wrong terminology, written too hastily!
Looking to tow an AirStream. 5,000lb tow-weight.

Find a truck to rent that has a receiver already on it and make no mention of towing. Buy your own hitch and ball a whatever else you need, make it happen. Go out in the yard and have a look, when you spot one with said receiver on it calmly ask "how about this one here?".

Most construction equipment rental places have no problem if you tow. Look those up in your area. Find the big boys that rent bobcats, fork-lifts, backhoes and the likes.
They usually have 3/4 & 1 ton trucks already setup for towing.
Cheaper than car rental companies too.
