No theme announced for 2012?

Fertility 2.0 - Black Rock City is a kind of Petri dish. Theme camps cling in fertile clusters to its latticework of streets, artworks tumble out of it, like pollen on the air. These nodes of interaction mutate, grow and reproduce their kind. Burning Man communities have now escaped this capsule world: our culture in a Petri dish has effloresced - it spreads across five continents. This year's art theme contemplates the tendency of any being or living system to create abundant life.

The main website doesn't have next year's dates up yet...though they do have the counter working for days till the man burns. You'd think they'd at least put up the new dates. (This is just an observation, I am in no way implying this has anything to do with whether or not there will be a burn next year or any other conspiracy theory to that effect.)

I'm getting the feeling that there won't be any Christmas pre-sales this year, either. We would need ticket artwork and printing and delivery all done within the next 8 weeks.. and we don't even have a theme yet.

But.. they did allude to an entirely different ticketing system this year. Hmm...

That could already be in the works; they may know the theme and just have not announced it.

Which to me would seem pretty counter-productive to the whole art side of things..?

Not that I personally give a shit what the theme is, but many people create art around it or with it greatly in mind. All intentionally keeping the theme from us would do is hinder those creative processes..

Once the theme and essay are done, Larry will post it.

Relax, for most of the years that there's been an event, the theme wasn't announced until several months later in the cycle. Most survived and had a wonderful time.
