I can't find a notice on the main site, and I don't have a new JRS in my email.

I highly doubt that Danger Ranger would let something like this slip out... That photo was published on September 20, 2011. It certainly looks like it is related to the 2011 burn.David M wrote:danger_ranger Danger Ranger

There is no official announcement of this so-called theme. So, your theme is just speculation.

Not really speculating, just posting what I saw.

Ok, I swear the powers-that-be at BM headquarters have lost their collective minds...
I think most long-time burners are losing their marbles over all of the changes that 2012 have brought us!!!
It would be cool if the BM website reflected Danger Ranger's tweet (assuming that is him). Until the website or JRS says it, it is still just speculation in my eyes.

All that means to me is I bring extra saran wrap and duct tape this round.

Re: Fertility?
I read of the new theme in my FB.

Burning Man's Larry Harvey addresses the multitudes at last night's Artumnal Gathering fundraiser for the Black Rock Arts foundation, held at the gorgeous Bently Reserve in San Francisco. He also announced the theme for 2012: Fertility 2.0, presumably the result of much protracted headscratching under that famous Stetson. But once again I think Larry's nailed the zeitgeist of the day: with Planet Earth sagging under the weight of 7 billion humans, indeed we need a new idea of Be Fruitful.

Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Re: Fertility?
You could always combine Fertility 2.0 and the lottery and get something that spawns many eggs and see which live...

Re: Fertility?
I think the theme feels right. This is a fertile time for Burning Man, time to spread the vibes all over the planet duuude!
Seems natural after a Rite of Passage to be fertile.
I like the feminine touch to the theme. Been lots of Yangy wangy themes, time for some yin, hippies.
The 2.0 gives it some kind of modern edge, not so old tymey nature. Although all I think about these days when I see a number like that is Tosh.0. haha
Burning Man is fertile ground for imagination. We have the resources, we are the lucky eggs.

and also 2.0 distinguishes from the original Fertility theme chosen for 1997.

Burning Man theme sequels? Can we look forward to 'The Future 2.0" "Green Man Jr." and the "New American Dream"?
9 burns and counting. Each one gets better.
