Changes To Emergency Road Services @ Burning Man 2015

Post by trilobyte » Mon Jul 20, 2015 10:20 am

We need to make you aware of some changes to the availability of emergency roadside assistance at Burning Man this year. In 2010, Burning Man and AAA of Northern California, Nevada and Utah entered into a mutually beneficial agreement to provide emergency roadside and lockout assistance to participants. In exchange for staging within our event site to more easily serve their members, for the next four years AAA offered free assistance to all participants within the BRC fence line.

AAA will not be staged within our site in 2015, or offering any assistance to anyone within the BRC fence line. AAA’s emergency roadside assistance agreement with their members actually never covered these off-road areas. This year in the vicinity of Burning Man, AAA will only serve their card-holding members, whose vehicles are positioned along state highway 447, county road 34, and other local county-maintained roads and highways.

But fear not! Prior to 2010, a group of dedicated lock-out experts from our Emergency Services Department (ESD) came to the aid of participants in need, and these generous individuals will be back in action this year to help.

For lockouts, and other emergency roadside assistance that might be available, ask for help at Playa Info in the Center Camp portal Monday 8/31 – Monday 9/7, 09:00 am – 6:00 pm. After hours there is a lockout dropbox with forms to fill out to request service.

After hours emergency only requests can be made at the Ranger outposts:
Ranger HQ at Esplanade and 5:45, 3:00 and Carny Outpost, 9:00 and Carny Outpost
