In and Out Passes

Post by supremeunicorn » Fri Aug 28, 2015 3:42 pm

How do these $20 in-and-out passes work.

I'll be coming in on Sunday setting up with my camp.
However, I must be in Reno on Monday or Tuesday during the day and plan to be back before sunset to enjoy BRC.
It's something I was trying to avoid, but it's one of those must-do things or just come in Wednesday, but I have bad FOMO :)

My questions are:
-If I'm not able to drive my car during the event, is the exception driving to/from the Gate permitted w/ the in-and-out pass?
-Is the $20 in-and-out valid for day or event in its entirely (understood that Saturday entry is pretty much a no-no).

This is my first time going to BM, seeking wisdom from the eplaya.

You'll be fine. Drive your car out of camp, straight to the outermost road, and then to Gate road. Stay as far right as possible. You'll come up to a shack and the people there will be ready for you. They'll ask for $20, and to see your ticket stub (because you'll need it to get back in!). They'll put a wristband on you.

When you come back, you'll show your wristband and ticket stub and vehicle pass to get back in. It'll otherwise be exactly the same as your first trip in (you'll have Gate check your car for stowaways etc).

Don't take off the wristband, and don't lose your ticket stub.

In prior years:
- You must purchase the Re-entry Pass when you leave.
- To get back in, you need your Re-entry Pass, your ticket, Vehicle Pass and your id.
I'm not aware of any restrictions on when you re-enter.
I've re-entered on Saturday as late as 2:30 pm.
This year may be different. YRMV
Ask for specifics when you purchase your Re-entry Pass.
For your stated intentions, it should be good.

The only catch is that upon entering with a Re-Entry Pass, you must strip down and do a dust-angel at Greeters (NOT at Gate, although I'm sure they'd be amused).

If budget permits, you might consider air shuttling from the BRC Intergalactic Spaceport to RNO. Maybe $700RT. Airport has an out and in process. No unpredictable traffic delays by plane, daytime flight schedule only. It lands in the Reno civil aviation terminal, not the main terminal. You could get a taxi to do your business.

If you do drive, I'm sure many people will value any forgotten supplies and fresh foods you can bring.

I did have to drive a friend out whose body was having a medical disagreement with the playa, then drive back myself, and it was an easy process.

You will be fine!

An additional note: When you leave the playa to go to town, put things where you park your car and ask your neighbors and camp-mates to hold that space for you; or you may come back to find somebody camped in your parking spot.
Depending on your camp structure... this advice may or may not apply.
