just mess around with the pole seeing where it would best work. It all depends on your bike and pole.. Sometimes zip ties are enough or duct tape.. You will however won't beable to stand the bike up, cuzz it will be top heavy. Also stay away from the dust devils that pop up... Auntie M where are you..

Look around for a piece of aluminum tubing or conduit that's big enough to accept the pole of the umbrella. Flatten one end with a hammer for two or three inches, as though you were making a dome strut. Drill a hole big enough for the hub on the back wheel. (1/2" oughtta do.) Depending on how your bike's set up, you may or may not be able to bolt that pipe to your hub and then have it stand up straight. Bend pipe if necessary. Got a rear fender? Find a conduit clamp of the appropriate size, and rivet or bolt it to the fender. Be careful NOT to pierce the tire when drilling the holes, and bolt or rivet from the INSIDE so there isn't a pokey-thing menacing the tire. No fender? Bolt a scrap of wood or metal to the seat-shaft and run it back to the pipe. An extra brace may be necessary to prevent lateral movement. With some tinkering, you should be able to make it adjustable!

You may have seen the one I had in past years. Just a hunk of pvc duct taped to the frame of the bike. Glue a cap on the pvc put the bumbershot in the tube. See where you want to place it and tape it on Like taping a wrist and hand Sorry Steve no goop this time.

some large hardware stores have fencing supplies where there are two types of pipe/bar connectors that might work depending on where you want to mount it to your bike. one is 90degree, the other is parallel - you tighten one side around the bike frame and the other around the umbrella pole.

That's a great idea! I have been looking for a cheapo fixture to mount carts behind bikes, that works with almost any bike, and you just nailed it!

A fence clamp, one side on the frame, the other on a short pipe, tighten the center bolt and it's solid. Then drop in the hitch and off you go! Easily fixed to practically any bike and cheap.

one potential problem though, a lot of mass produced fencing items are cheap metal that break so i guess its what you can find.

HAH! The GOOP is what you use to glue the Barbie heads and plastic dinosaurs to the umbrella with, silly!

I've also seen a bike with an umbrella on the back, which looks very interesting. I think there are ways to do it, maybe tie a wire, solder an iron (weld the umbrella to the back of the bike )
