Unless you're a glutton for punishment, I suggest buying 20L NATO fuel cans, and a leak-proof nozzle (representative images below).
The latest cali-carb mandated fuel containers are so difficult to use and deliver fuel so slowly... one loses that mellow playa vibe in a hurry.
I can also suggest that one not fill the fuel cans 'to the rim', as the fuel will expand when exposed to playa heat. Upon opening, a personal 'fly geyser' will greet you!
gas on rv - storage and amount extra is it 20 gal. max.

Also, it is illigal to fill liquid fuel containers past 90% capacity by volume.[jim] wrote:

Probably to prevent this.
I am completely guilty of filling gas cans to the rim and having them puke out that last 10% on my garage floor. Wich, I'm sure won't make me to many friends here.

Another option is to go with a non-CARB container such as used in off-road racing. These are TOUGH, roto-molded poly and transport well. They are very cost-competitive compared to the NATO-style carriers. (And they are fast. Did I mention fast? Just 9 seconds to empty 5 gallons with the right nozzle. Hehehe).

I use a little trick with my plastic 5-gallon gasoline cans: I fill them a few days before I leave for BM, and I set them out in the sun with the caps just ever so slightly loose. Fuel and air heat up and expand, and pressure bleeds off. At the hottest part of late afternoon I tighten the caps.
The cans become hollow-cheeked at night, but so what. No over-pressure to speak of when I open them on Playa.
