OK, if the hitch is also attached at the axle, that helps a great deal. (Impossible to see in the picture.) Now you have two or three inches of leverage instead of zero. Still, with such a long arm from the axle to the Heim joint, the steel itself could bend, so I would install braces from the luggage rack to near the Heim joint.

I had been planning on cladding my bike with MDF in the shape of a cloud with a rainbow and sun behind but I think I like this frame too much to hide it. Looking forward to decorating her and taking her for a spin once I'm stateside next month!

That looks like a good bike... Good wide seat.. Have the bearing checked and lubed.. Bring a inner tube the size of your bike tire..If you do not have a flat.. Donate the tube to a playa bike repair camp.. Or find a repair camp and pay forward with the inner tube.

Just a heads-up for anyone near the Pullman WA / Moscow ID area...the Pullman Wal-Mart has a Dolomite sitting out front for $225. I'm really tempted but already have two Beasts modified with chopper bars etc, not sure if I'd be able to sell one in time. Plus, I'd have to be the gentleman and let my girlfriend ride the Dolomite.

Well I took the tandem around the block with Charlie today. It's assembled entirely of parts from "left behind" playa bikes.
It's only mocked up, I still have to completely disassemble every bit of it to clean, grease and oil everything. After it's all dialed in and riding smooth and right I'll blow it apart again and paint it.

I wish I had a photo focused specifically on my trusty playa bike, because I love it. Picked it up at a pawn shop for about $25 in preparation for the Burn in 2012, lit it up, and decorated the spokes with pantone cards snagged from Home Despot and my "No Pants Dance" underwear flag. Seen here ironically just before I was gifted some vintage lesbian porn in return for helping these lovely ladies set up their Inconvenience Store.

Discovered bad bearings on a multi bike.. The frame is already cut and mounted..
The bearing are in the rear crank that serves as a drive line.. After pulling the crank and not finding bearing that fit.. Will set pillow blocks with the shaft running through the old crank hole.. Forgot to look before leaping..

Have a bike and a trike playa ready.. Now to finish the art sculpture trike..

We have made, and will bring to gift, a few hundred PlayaScarves. This is the proposed method for us to carry/display them while pedaling about. It is still a work in progress and just might be improved upon in the visual sense.

The wires are thin and I wrapped them around every other spoke and used a dab of hot glue to hold it in place. I fully expect the glue to fail and I'm pretty sure it will stay in place even if it does but, if not, I'll be prepared to fix it with some quick set epoxy. I was trying to avoid epoxy if I can so it's not such a permanent thing but I'll do whatever I gotta do on Playa.
