Powered skateboard runs on tank treads

Post by phil » Wed Apr 19, 2006 10:08 am

http://www.scarpar.com/

I can't really figure this thing out based on the Web site and photos. Am I getting it right? It's a powered skateboard on tracks, treads, whatever?

Interesting name. I wonder how many scars you'll pick up riding this thing.

Yeah, looks powered.
It's going to be alright.

The site says it's not motorized. On the playa the obvious use would be to mount a toilet on it and tow behind a pickup, but a scrap plywood skimboard is a bit cheaper.

Bob, on their website they say:
Scarpar-X (Scarpar Cross) will be the most exciting form of motor racing to ever hit our planet. Picture this: 2 guys or 4, no wait....lets make it 10! TEN guys racing side by side on a Scarpar-X track designed similarly to a moto-x circuit combining jumps, berms, obsticles with a freestyle expression session to follow!
So it sounds like this is a motorized product.
It's going to be alright.

Guess I'm wrong -- didn't read past "It is not a motorised skateboard".

It's a completely confusing site. It appears to be a powered skateboard on tracks instead of wheels, but I can't really tell. I was hoping it was just me, and someone else could figure it out. Looks like it's not just me.

However, taking someone else's suggestion, I'll hook it up behind my motorized toilet and set off across the playa. :-> Gives new meaning to 'flushed with excitement.'

confusing yes, i think they meant its not a motorized skateboard like current motorized skateboards - or they are trying to create an impression its something different from that. i think the vid said like 50cc or something... and the rider has a throttle control in thier hand that runs a cable down to the unit.

that shit looks cool! I don'y thinks it's a hoax...now if they actually put the prototype into production that is another story....though I guess if not that would make it a hoax.....kind of
