I know that mountain bikes and balloon tires work best, but what about adult tricycles with mountain bike tires? And multiple gears? Thanks

Those are even better! They don't get knocked over when parked and it is nice to rest without putting a foot down when peddling in the heat and wind.

We've got this and it is a dream for troop and supply transport with the weapon removed and used as a flatbed:
