biking to Burning Man

Post by Benedict » Tue Jul 17, 2007 4:34 pm

Howdy ya'll. I was wondering if any of ya'll have bicycled to Burning Man in the past. I am going to be coming from Portland, Or, and could really use some advice on a route, being that getting water and shelter are such issues towards that direction. Can anyone help?

There's this thread, and several more I'm sure if you search around a bit.

All About Burning Man -> Get Involved! -> anyone biking, or want to bike THERE.?

(not sure how to link it)

I guess it's doable but in my opinion the last part of the trip on those roads would be pretty dangerous. Doesn't matter how experienced a long range cyclist you may be... it's the other people out there behind the wheel and the serious lack of shoulder/bike lane/emergency lane.

I'd be curiouos if it's ever been done during that week, I'm sure someone's ridden out there before but have they done it over the week or so when there's all the cars, buses, rv's etc... crowding the small roads?
