How do I transport equipment and Art from UK?

Post by aerisprayer » Mon Jul 30, 2007 2:35 pm

K, i'm not doing Burning Man this year as I have a lot of planning to do, but I need to have this question answered before I can even consider buying tickets aand flights from the United Kingdom for next years Burining Man.

How do I go about transporting all my essential needs along with Art Installations from the UK without forking out most of my savings? Where can I pick them up and how can I transport them all to Burning Man as I don't drive...

Seems like a mammoth task, but I'm sure there's a way around it. I just some general tips from anyone who's experienced the same issues.

Cheers burners.

Good to plan ahead - excellent.

has links to regional burners in the UK. They will have done this before, so check with them for information on getting kit to the US.

There are rideshare programs and buses to the Playa from Reno (the nearest town of any size).

(NOTE: These are for 2007, so keep up to date on plans for 2008 transportation.)

Good luck and see you in 2008.

For starters, I'd plow through this list. I gathered it up through the regional section and it looks like a good number of posters are from London. I'd fire off a blind introductory letter to them and ask them if they might have had a similar issue with getting materials over from the UK to the playa. Keep checking back here as well.

obviously you have no options this close to this year burn other than air.

Sea is cheapest, and can be delivered to the east coast of the US, or to Seattle, LA, Tacoma, or any other port. we shipped a container from UK, to Seatle, for 6700.00 at 40 feet you can pack quite a but of good stuff inthere.
