leaving brc

Post by kristen » Sat Aug 11, 2007 10:30 pm

yes, yes, it is far too early to talk about leaving the playa, but i kinda want to have a feel for this before i get there....

i've heard a ton about not showing up early, but what's the idea on leaving? the reason i ask is because my flight isn't leaving reno until the night of the 5th and i was planning to hang out in the desert until then and help whomever/however i can until that time. would this be okay?

thanks and be well!

would this be okay?
No, not really. Just as with early in folk there's a definite time period for the event. It ends on Monday and all attendees must be out by that time. Arrangements to stay past the BLM mandated time period must be made prior to showing up on the playa.

After Monday you will be told to leave.

Yeah Crypto, you can camp elsewhere on the playa, even during the event if you want to. I know some people who arrive early go out a few more miles and camp there to wait until opening day. Standard BLM rules for camping in the Black Rock apply.
It's going to be alright.

Thanks Sput, that's what I thought.

Remember though, you do have to stay a certain distance from the event. I'm thinking 5 miles, butI could be wrong. They like a nice large emptiness, so they can track the people trying to jump the trash fence...
