Backup lighting for bike

I've had my light stolen off my bike before.
I've lost my flashlight before.
I need a backup that stays on the bike and highly theft resistant!

I just ordered some of these and they promised they would get to me on time. I love the technology of the "flipping" magnet to produce electricity without those horrible "rub on the tire" generator/dynamo lighting systems.

However, it truly is a "backup" as the light isn't continuous, but flashes for every revolution of the wheel. Must look like a strobe light bike at high speeds!

I got solar powered and battery powered Christmas tree lights that I attach to my bike with plastic ties…….but my best light ever is a plastic flashlight powered by 2 AA batteries…….I duct tape some chap stick to it…….and I am always ready.

My campmates used to laugh at my flashlight/chap stick combo…….until they ran out of chap stick one night……….

The headlight I use is made by Bell. It clamps on the handlebars. The light snaps on to the clamp and is removable and can be used as a flahlight. I remove during the days since I lost one in 07. Don't know if some un-desirable :x needed it more then I did or if it fell off. :oops: This is my first year of trying battery powered decorative lighting on my bike for night rides, similar to what flatlander13 describes.

I wonder if you could add more magnets to the spokes to create more current, or w/e...but yeah I'd think that would only be used as back up and for light to be seen with, not for seeing...but then again this is coming from somebody who has 200+ leds on the front alone...looks like a damn frieght train coming at ya!!
What other people think about you is none of your business.

Good idea...they do sell individual magnets.

Also, capacitors to store the electricity for continuous light when stopped.

Also, battery packs, which then turns it into a normal light, and not as good as a normal light.

I still will have my normal light, this is only my backup, and might give me more visibility to others than my normal light.
