im just wondering if it is even possible to come and go to and from the festival after you are atmitted the first time? ... not breaking camp but maybe just taking a vehicle

You may leave the event and return, but there is a fee for doing so. Taking vehicles is frowned upon if they are not yours.

Each person in the car leaving and re-entering has to pay the fee - as I remember it is $20 or $25. You need to take your ticket stub with you. There has been a shuttle operated by Green Tortoise that goes from BRC out to Gerlach and Empire and back (everybody should do this once just for the experience - it is like riding a bus in a third world country). I think the cost of the shuttle is $5 per person but it has been years since I have used it.

Personally, after preparing all year for that one week of being home, I cannot imagine leaving the playa during the event.

Me either. But John and I volunteer at the bus depot and there's lots of people with lots of reasons for doing so. I could write a book!

Well there are REASONS and then there are EXCUSES. If someone has to leave just to get their texting fix or actually buy themselves some water,,,,,

Fishy,,,, believe me, I understand health and medical issues. Sheeeesh I try very hard not to get hung up on shit outside my realm of influence,,,, and I sure ain't got any inside track on the unknown.
